Wheeler River Lodge, located in north central Saskatchewan is a first-class fishing destination and offers you the adventure of a lifetime. There is an excellent chance to land the grand slam (all of our five species: walleye, northern pike, lake trout, Arctic grayling and whitefish) in a single day. Relax in comfort in a modern wilderness light housekeeping lodge, which is fully equipped with kitchen, barbecue, hot/cold running water and shower, propane fridge and stove and power generator. Cell phone service is available thanks to the newly installed cell booster tower. A guide/caretaker is on site.

Whether you are a die-hard fisherman or looking for the perfect family holiday, you will love the pristine waters, sandy beaches, native plants and abundant wildlife. Enjoy a paddle in a double kayak or a canoe, take a hike along a quiet lake and experience the beauty and solitude provided at Wheeler River Lodge, about 180 air miles north of La Ronge. Clients can drive to the floatplane base at Otter Lake (Missinipe), where they will board a floatplane for the 75 minutes flight.

What do you need to pack?

Suggested Equipment List:

  • weight restriction of 50-60 lbs per person maximum

  • Hunting Equipment – Rifle, Ammunition (2 boxes), Soft gun case, Hard gun case (airline), backpack, binoculars, knife, flashlight, lighter or waterproof matches
  • Clothing – warm outer layers & rain gear, white/orange/red/yellow outer jacket, blaze orange or red hat/touque (law), leather hunting boots, camp shoes, gloves
  • Other Personal Gear – sunscreen, insect repellant, bed roll, food & refreshments, towels, reuseable water bottle

Don’t Forget:

  • Large and small ziplock bags
  • Saran wrap and tin foil
  • Spices and condiments

Wheeler River Lodge is located in north central Saskatchewan, about 180 air miles north of Lac LaRonge. Clients can drive to the float plane base at Otter Lake (Missinipe) where they will board a float plane for the 75 minute flight (135 miles). Experiencing the power and thrill of taking off in a DeHaviland Beaver, Otter or Twin Otter makes for an incredible start to your northern experience.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS FROM SASKATOON TO MISSINIPE
(Osprey Wings float plane base)

Hwy 11 north towards Prince Albert (128 kms) then turn left onto
Hwy 2 north to LaRonge (245 km); continue on
Road 102 north to Missinipe (79 km)
TIME: Approx 4.5 hours

Connecting flights from Saskatoon to LaRonge can also be arranged.
